One reach was designated based on: Valley width and Channel morphology. Riffles (35%), rapids (32%), and scour pools (22%) dominated the habitat, while sand (15%), gravel (60%), and bedrock (13%) were the dominant substrate types. The survey begins at the confluence with Rock Creek and ends at a large step due to a lack of flow. A salmon spawning survey (26098.00 seg.1) is also located at the start. The stream runs through timberland. REACH DESCRIPTIONS: REACH 1: Length – 875 meters. The channel is constrained by moderate hillslopes in a narrow valley. The average valley width index is 1.7. Land use for the reach is timber harvest. The average unit gradient is 3.4%. The channel characteristics include: primary 875m and secondary 70m. Zero pools were greater than 1 meter deep. There was an average amount of LWD with twenty-seven logs greater or equal to 12m x 0.6m, which averages to 3.1 key pieces per 100m. The vegetation is based on 4 riparian transects. The trees found most frequently in the riparian zone were mostly mixed sizes of deciduous ranging from 15 – 30 cm dbh, with some mixed deciduous and conifers 30 – 50 cm dbh. This survey begins in a timbered area. The habitat throughout the survey is average. The reach is characterized by gravel, sand, and bedrock dominating the substrate. There are little pools with heavy fines and bedrock scattered throughout the survey. The riparian shade through this section of the stream is excellent. There is poor LWD project potential with little access for industrial equipment. The riparian area has excellent riparian shade throughout the entire reach but has recently been harvested creating fair riparian enhancement project potential. The riparian area has excellent riparian shade throughout the entire reach but has recently been harvested creating fair riparian enhancement project potential. \par }}';'T..4..`4A' 2 tЯ у C? 2 њу C, 2 њ,у C, 2 њXу C, 2 њ„у C, 2 њАу C,2 њм уStream ReportA'44;`T4A;4' 2 њУу C? 2 €у C?-&2 уSTREAM: Ivy Creek8=C=HY2/C!,,2 2 kу C 2 „џџџџџџџџˆ;lXn З”&џџџџWordMicrosoft Word ућМ"System &Šџџџџ”ЧЄ-ћœџ@Times New RomanFO р0- 2 у c-- 2 …у c, 2 …,у c, 2 …Xу c,ћ‹џМ@Times New RomanFO р0-J2 t„*уUpper Nehalem Watershed Habitat AssessmentTAA44T4A;!4`u;'44.A4A[;A!';'T..4..`4A' 2 tЯ у ? 2 њу , 2 њ,у , 2 њXу , 2 њ„у , 2 њАу ,2 њм уStream ReportA'44;`T4A;4' 2 њУу ? 2 €у ?-&2 уSTREAM: Ivy Creek8=C=HY2/C!,,2 2 kу 2 „у - 2 xу -82 ыуSUBBASIN: Upper Nehalem River8HBBH8HH22,!H,2,,NC2,! 2 ыЊу - 2 ^у -.2 буDATES: March 15, 2006HH==8Y,!,2222222 2 б$у - 2 Dу -G2 З(уSURVEY CREW: Trevor Diemer, Ben Walczak8HCH=HCC=_=!,22!H,N,!B,2_,,-,2 2 ЗЕу - 2 *у -;2 уREPORT PREPARED BY: Ben WalczakC=8HC=8C=8HC=HBHB,2_,,-,2 2 Ёу - 2 у -/2 ƒуGENE CONSERVATION GROUP:H=H=CHH8=CHH=HHHCHH8 2 ƒВу * 2 ƒму12 2 ƒу-!2 ƒ/уNCHC 2 ƒКу C- 2 іу C-2 iуUTM H=Y2 iї уCOORDINATES:CHHCHHH==8 2 iву Cо2 iАуStart 8,! 2 i†у–C2.2 iИу 0476697 N & 5080648 E :2222222HM2222222= 2 iм у C- 2 му C, 2 м,у C, 2 мXу C, 2 м„у C,2 мАуEnd =22 2 мjу–C2,2 мœу 0475950N & 5081222 E 2222222HM2222222= 2 мЇ у C- 2 Oу C-,2 ТуUSGS MAPS: BirkenfeldH8H8YH88B!2,2!,2 2 Т"у C- 2 5 у C-)2 Ј уGENERAL DESCRIPTION:H=H=CH;H=8CC8=HH 2 Ј ‹у C- 2 у C- 2 Ž у C,…2 Ž ,QуThe Ivy Creek winter habitat survey begins at its confluence with Rock Creek and m=2,2/C!,,2H2,!2,2,'2!2,/2,12',',22!2,2,,H2C2,2C!,,2,22X2 3уextends 875 meters.
