One reach was designated based on: Valley form. Riffles (40%), Rapids (17%), and Cascades (28%) dominated the habitat, while Sand (29%), Gravel (43%), and Bedrock (19%) were the dominant substrate types. REACH DESCRIPTIONS: REACH 1: Length Ц 256 meters. The channel is constrained by terraces in a broad valley. The average valley width index is 7.1. Land use for the reach is light grazing. The average unit gradient is 5.4%. The channel characteristics include: primary 256m and secondary 0m. Zero pools were greater than 1 meter deep. There was no LWD with zero logs greater or equal to 12m x .6m. The vegetation is based on one riparian transect. The trees found most frequently in the riparian zone were mostly mixed sizes of deciduous ranging from 30 Ц 50 cm dbh, with some conifers 15 Ц 30 cm dbh. This survey begins at the confluence with Selder Creek. No ODFW Spawning Survey sign was noted. The stream has marginal habitat. Flow is the primary issue. The stream is an ideal alcove development site with nice terraces and shade on the right bank. The gravel in the stream is small in the lower portion of the survey, but the stream gets very steep fast. An old refrigerator was present in the middle of a cascade that is just below a culvert. The culvert is in poor condition and is a definite potential barrier. The survey ended above the culvert at a rapid over rock. Garbage dumping is a problem near the gate on the gravel access road where the culvert is located. There is good project potential for LWD and riparian enhancement projects, with fair access for industrial equipment due to the steepness of the road nearby.
